Slate wagon #1 here are some photographs of one of the slate wagons i plan to construct for the quarry yard! i really liked the shape and design of the large scale versions of these wagons, and the extra detail of the real ones on the talyllyn railway.. The “steel slate wagon” axleguards had their angular protrusions removed and replaced with wilko craft jewels filed a little flatter to represent the hinged oiling flaps seeming sported by most ffestiniog slate wagons, and the “carmarthen” couplings had their moulded hooks replaced with brass ones.. Quarry slate wagons our wagon kits are inspired by many narrow guage lines, all our kits are laser cut and fit together cleanly to form a solid model. allowing the modeller to add there own unique stamp on there model..
One of my favorite type of welsh narrow gauge wagons, these slate cars were a favorite of my latest to make for expanding my range of scratch-built rolling stock! as they appeared from season 5 of the thomas & friends show, the design of these wagons were taller and larger in size, and weathered down in grime and rust.. Hi rob i have been looking for the same thing but for the dinorwic quarry. there are festiniog slate wagon plans on the internet, if you just type that in and look at the page "images".. A brace of slate. two dundas fr 3 ton versions in braked and unbraked mode flanking a narrow planet (meridian) penrhyn 2 ton example. the numbering on the outer two is ratio and the smallest i could find here, but i picked up a sheet of old time transfers at porthmadog which are designed for these wagons and will replace in good time..
